Charles Irie Funk's Obituary
Charles Irie Funk, age 85, of Galax, VA, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 in the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC.
Mr. Funk was born Dec. 19, 1922 in Grayson County, VA to Arthur and Flora Bourne Funk.
He is survived by one daughter, Betty L. Leonard, Galax, son-in-law, Ronnie Hudson, Ennice, NC, sister, Hazel Morrison of NC, brother, John Funk, Norfolk, VA, grandchildren and spouses, Debbie & Eldon Edmonds, Charles & Patricia Leonard, Jimmy & Linda Leonard, John & Melissa Leonard, DeeDee & Scott Bedsaul, Lynn & Paul Creed, several great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Mr. Funk was preceded in death by his wife Thursey Alice Funk, daughter, Kathleen Hudson, three sisters and two brothers.
The funeral service will be held at the Hillcrest Baptist Church, Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 7PM to 9:00 PM Monday at the church. Burial will follow in the Ballard Cemetery. The officiating minister will be the Rev. James Cowley.
