Chapman Davis Cox age 89 of Galax, Virginia passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in the Wheatland Hills in Christiansburg, Virginia..
Mr. Cox was born in Grayson County, Virginia on April 6, 1922 to Chap Hampton and Cleo Matilda Cox.
He is survived by his wife Beatrice S. Cox of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Dean Schneider of Grapevine, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Joe and Sandy Cox of Christiansburg, Virginia ; grandchildren Kate Schneider and Patrick Cox; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cox was the principal of the Baywood School from 1955 until 1984. He was active over the years in the Boys Scouts, the Baywood Ruritan Club, First United Methodist Church Board, and the Southern States Cooperative Board.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, doantions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
