Celene Dotson Smith, 93, of Galax, VA passed away Sunday, August 3,    2025 at Hillsville Health and Rehab.  She was born 12/22/31 to Raymond and Clara Dotson.

Celene was a gentle and humble person who loved everyone who crossed her path. Her greatest desire was to see all her family and friends come to know Jesus. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest W. Smith, Sr. and her grandson William Nelson.

She is survived by her children Gretta Jennings (Larry), of Galax; Joyce Sames (Chris) of King, NC; Nancy Nelson (Donny) and Ernie Smith (Patty) of Galax.  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren Beth Hewett (Southport, NC), Craig Sames (King, NC), Andy Hewett, Jamie Smith and Michael Smith (Alena) of Galax; a step-grandson, Kenneth Jennings (Amy) of Fries, VA and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Shirley Felts (Grady), Betty Payne (Roger) and Charlene Bunn (Charles) all of Galax and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Snow Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the church.
