Cecil Clarence Dickens, 91, of Galax, Virginia, died Friday, May 6, 2016, at the home of his son, Michael Dickens. He was born in Carroll County to Anderson and Fannie Hanks Dickens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years, Mary Lee Faddis Dickens; one brother, Rennie Dickens; and four sisters, Ila Felts, Ima Felts, Verna Dickens, and Pauline Porter.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Sue Dickens of Woodlawn, Virginia, and Shane and Brenda Dickens of Ashland, Virginia; brother Walter Dickens of Monroe, North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Ruth Faddis Richardson of Newark, Delaware; Gerri Dickens Perkins of Tucson, Arizona; four grandchildren, Michelle Dickens of Winston Salem, NC, Duane Dickens of Traphill, NC, Mariah Rushing of Clifton, CO, Jamie Dickens of Winston Salem, NC; four step grandchildren, Rod Branscome of Charlotte, NC, Miranda McCraw of Abingdon, VA, Chris Branscome of Blacksburg, VA, and Jasen Manka of Texarkana, TX; four great grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at Oakland Methodist Church, Galax, Virginia, with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at Oakland Methodist Church from 1:00 P.M. until time for the memorial service.
