Carroll Jackson East age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, September 2, 2006 in Buchanan, Va. at the home of her son. She was born on December 11, 1917 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late William K. and Mamie Carroll Jackson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John East. She is survived by two daughters, Mary E. Cartwell of Saratosa, Florida; Janey Parrish of Galax, Va.; two sons, John L. East, Jr. of Somerset, California and William J. East of Buchanan, Va.; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 7th at 2:00 PM in Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
