Mr. Carroll Wayne Delp, 79, of Galax, VA went home on Christmas Day, December 25, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born November 22, 1931 in Galax, VA to Clarris B. and Elsie Weatherman Delp.

He was a graduate of Draughn's Business College. He was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. Mr. Delp was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hillsville, VA. He retired from the United States Postal Service with 36 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Glenn Youngkin, a number of special aunts and uncles, and his wife of 22 years, Glenda Youngkin Delp. Surviving are a daughter, Lynn Carol Delp Cribb and husband, Paul, of Winston-Salem; his mother-in-law, Marian P. Youngkin of Winston-Salem; a brother-in-law, Carroll Wayne Youngkin and wife, Ellis, of Florida; a nephew, Glenn A. Youngkin and wife, Suzanne, of Great Falls, VA; a niece, Dorothy Youngkin Kouba and husband, Chris, of Chesapeake, VA; a grandson, Paul C. Cribb, Jr. and wife, Kristy, of Pfafftown; a great grandson, Isaac James Cribb of Pfafftown; and numerous cousins and close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel in Galax, VA. The family will receive friends after the service. A second memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Hillsdale Baptist Church in Advance, NC with visitation to follow. Rev. Dale Harlan will officiate both services.
