Carolyn Wilmetta Steppe Harrell, age 76, of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday April 6, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. Harrell was born in Fries, Virginia on March 27, 1943 to the late David and Lois Payne Steppe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Monroe Harrell and brothers Charles Gilmer and Dicky Lee Payne.

She is survived by daughters Paula Jones of Wytheville, Virginia, Patricia Dawn Harrell, Lois Heather Rector, both of Woodlawn, Virginia; son Russell Harrell of Bland, Virginia; grandchildren Keith Harrell, Jessica Lynn Shupe, Justin Scott Frost, Dona Machelle Frost; four great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are brother and sister-in-law Timothy and Wendy Steppe of Baywood, Virginia; and special friend Dwayne Roberts.

The graveside service will be held Tuesday April 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Snow Hill Cemetery with Evangelist Paula Jones officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
