Rev. Carl Gene Hill age 73 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Rev. Hill was born on July 1, 1939 in Carroll County, Virginia to Elmer and Hazel Mabe Hill. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Todd Hash.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Waller Hill of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Julie Surratt of Galax, Virginia; Jerri Lynn Crain of Woodlawn, Virginia; Patti and Michael Hodge of Fries, Virginia; Karen and Steve Dye of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law Peggy and Harvey Carico; Joella Caldwell; Sally and Larry Clyburn all of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Brenda Hill of Galax, Virginia; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his church family; sisters-in-law and spouses Sue and Virgil Melton; Gail and Johnny Williams; brother-in-law and spouse Bobby and Kathleen Waller; special caregiver Tina Redd.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Garry Adams, Rev. Harvey Carico and Rev. Terry Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior the funeral service. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
