Carl Burton Goad age 78 of 78 Spring Run Lane in Galax, Va. passed away Friday morning, September 18, 2009 at Waddell Nursing Home. He was born September 1, 1931 in Carroll County to Phillip Goad and Betty Gray Leftwich Goad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother William Goad and a sister Alma Frances Goad Newman.

Mr. Goad is survived by his wife: Wanda Goad of the home; daughters & sons-in-law: Carolyn & James Burris; Cathy & Bobby Skiles all of Woodlawn, VA; Cheryl Privett of Galax; son & daughter-in-law Carl Goad Jr. & Debbie of Woodlawn; step daughters Albalene Lineberry, Jenene Stuart, Charlene Sawyers all of Galax; sister Ila Mae Mazzeo of Dothan, Alabama and a half sister Lila Hall of Hartfield, Virginia. Also surviving are three grandsons, four great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Olivet Union Baptist Church Cemetery at Baywood with Rev. Bob Adams and Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating.
