Carl Lawrence Funk age 77 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Carl was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on June 22, 1946, to Ruben Paul and Thelma Harris Funk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Melissa Funk.

He is survived by his wife Glenda Christman Funk; daughters Mary Newman and Kim Iroler all of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Karen Sue of Florida; Alecia and Richard Alpaught of Georgia; brother Larry Funk of Connecticut; three grandchildren Freedom Leath (David); Summer Brewer (Jamie) Hedi Rodriguez; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 PM in the Blue Ridge Chapel Church with Pastor David Moore; Pastor Mark Mays and Pastor Keith Mallinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Union Baptist Church Cemetery at Baywood. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
