Mr. Carl Frederic Davis, age 84, of Graham, North Carolina died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Independence, Virginia after a four-year illness. Mr. Davis was born January 14, 1933. A native of Grayson County, Virginia (Galax), he was the husband of Patsy Dancy Davis, who survives and son of Carl E. and Ella Isom Davis, both deceased.

He was a graduate of Galax High School of Galax, Virginia; attended R. C. A. Institute of Electronic Fundamentals of New York, attended Danville Technical Insinuate, Danville, Virginia; Basic Electronics at North Carolina State University at Raleigh, NC and Technical Institute of Alamance. He received Expert Rifleman Award from the Armed Forces; Newspaper Carrier Award from the Times World Corporation of Roanoke, Virginia; Perfect Attention Award from Western Electric; Life Member of Pioneers of Western Electric, retired from Western Electric after 38 years. He was Life member of National Rifle Association and served 3 years in the Armed Forces and 8 years in the Reserves. This is where he got his love for guns and started his gun collection.

He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church for 57 years (1960-2017) many with perfect attendances, where he served many offices. He was member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. Received award for the help in construction and cleaning of the children's playground; he was parking lot attendant chairman; and facility technician of Riverside Baptist Church.

Survivors include other than his wife of the home include one son, Stuart Clark Davis (Karen) of Burlington, North Carolina, one grandson Carter Jacob Davis; brothers John Wayne Davis (Betty) and E. Frank Davis (Ruby) both of Galax, Virginia; two nieces and 3 nephews.
The graveside service will be conducted Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Davis Cemetery, Mustang Loop, Galax, Virginia with Pastor Mary Hessler officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post #7726. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
