Calvin Coolidge Kurtz, Jr. better known as C.C. Kurtz age 76 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

C.C. was born in Canton, Ohio on June 22, 1945 to Calvin Coolidge and Lois Gauntz Kurtz.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

In addition to his parents the Rev. Calvin Coolidge and Lois Gauntz Kurtz of Stanardsville, Virginia, he is survived by his wife Janis W. Kurtz of Galax, Virginia; daughters and son-in-law Jenifer Kurtz and Gabe Simpkins of Roanoke, Virginia; Carol Kurtz of Silver Spring, Maryland; two granddaughters Emma Simpkins and Sophia Simpkins; sisters Louise Schwarting; Donna Layton and Athena Taylor all of Stanardsville, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 17th at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark McFadden officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the church.

Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, 306 West Center Street, Galax, Virginia 24333.
