C. Duane King, 66, of Newton, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. Duane was born September 30, 1946 in Wythe County, Virginia to Clarence R. King and Thelma Lowe King. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Bobby and Eddie.

Duane is survived by his wife Judy Carrico King of the home; son Bradley Duane King of Newton, North Carolina; two sisters Gayle Sutherland of Hardy, Virginia and Linda Youngblood and husband Gary of Appomattox, Virginia; sisters-in-law: Pam King of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Peggy Boyer of Fries, Virginia. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives survive as well as his special friends Kadi and Maci.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Fries United Methodist Church with a reception to follow. Duane will be put to rest in the Mallory-Carrico Family Grave Yard in Spring Valley on his birthday, September 30.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either the Fries United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
