Buddy Robert Swiney age 70 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 in the Lewis Gale Montgomery Medical Center.

Buddy was born on January 1, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland to James David and Mae Sutherland Swiney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother James Swiney.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Donithan Swiney; daughters and sons-in-law Angela and Brent Lundy; Ella and Tommy Bobbitt; son Darell Waller and special friend Amanda Ridge all of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Tifani Waller of Marion, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Christine Swiney of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:00 PM at Coulson Church with Dr. Wayburn Mosley and Russell Payne officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until seven at Coulson Church. Inurnment will be in the Coulson Church Cemetery at a later date.
