SAINT PAUL, VIRGINIA - Brock Anthony Michael Funk, 28, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee.
He was born in Galax, Virginia. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Atley Grace Funk. Brock Anthony Michael Funk was a Godly man devoted to his wife and two children. He was always serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Brock was a member of Mills Chapel Church in Castlewood, Virginia. He also touched many lives in the classroom and on the field. He was a teacher at Castlewood Elementary School. Brock made it his life mission to introduce everyone he knew to God's love. Brock grew up in Fries, Virginia and a member of the Fries Pentecostal Church. He was a 2004 graduate of Grayson County High School where he earned honors in football, basketball, and baseball, being named Group A State Player of the Year in 2004. Brock attended UVA Wise where he was an accomplished baseball player. While there he also met the love of his life, Terri Anne. They were married in 2008. In 2010, Brock and Terri Anne had their first child, Atley Grace, who went to be with the Lord. God blessed them with two more children, Ezekiel Gracen in 2011 and Zoey Kadence in 2013. Brock moved away from all his success in order to start a family with Terri Anne. In Brock's professional career as a teacher and coach, he always did what he thought was morally right, even if it was unpopular. "Go rest high on the Mountain with Atley."
He is survived by his wife, Terri Anne Hill Funk; one daughter, Zoey Kadence Funk of the home and one son, Ezekiel Gracen Funk of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tiny and Roxanna Funk of Fries, Virginia; one sister, Megan Funk and friend, Mark Collins of Fries, Virginia; maternal grandparents, Peary and Becky Moore of Fries, Virginia; paternal grandmother, Peggy Funk of Fries, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Kim Nicholson and husband, Jason of Abingdon, Virginia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bobby and Bernice Hill of St. Paul, Virginia; three uncles, Bill Moore and wife, Monica, Tim Moore and wife, Melinda, and Mike Funk and wife, Rene; two aunts, Polly Vaughan and husband, Randall, and Rachel Shupe and husband, Larry; and several cousins.
Funeral Services for Brock Anthony Michael Funk will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 in St. Paul High School Gymnasium, Saint Paul, Virginia with Rev. Mike Patrick and Rev. Bill Linkous officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Hill Cemetery, Saint Paul, Virginia. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Charles Campbell, Mike Worrell, David Meredith, Van Harris, Brandon Tomlinson, Josh Underwood, Jamie Butler, Bill Strong, and Lucas Austin.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2015 in Saint Paul High School Gymnasium, Saint Paul, Virginia.
