Brenda Shiralene Horton Harmon age 72 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Brenda was born on November 4, 1941 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Roy M. and Juanita McNair Horton.

She is survived by her husband William Price Harmon of Woodlawn, Virginia; daughter and son-in law Linda Faye and Todd Catron; of Hillsville, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Ronald Price and Christia Harmon; Kerry Scott and Brenda Harmon all of Galax, Virginia; six grandchildren Emily Claire Catron; Eric Anthony Catron; Katie Nicole Harmon; Wesley Price Harmon; Alexander Scott Harmon and Casey Alexis Harmon; sisters Cecelia Ekern of Sanford, Florida; Christine Gibson of Cleburne, Texas; brothers Glen Horton, Sr. of Green Sulphur Springs, West Virginia; Richard W. Horton of Marlinton, West Virginia; Phillip Vernon of Port Orange, Florida; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 4:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. John Grimm officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, North Carolina 27017 or to the Mountain Valley Hospice 1477 Carrollton Pike Hillsville, Virginia 24343.
