Bonnie Louise Adkins age 67 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Bonnie was born on January 23, 1947 in Welch, West Virginia to the late Carl and Stella Shaw Gillespie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Franklin Delano Adkins, Sr..

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Gerri and Larry McFarland; sons Jonah Adkins and Frankie Adkins all of Galax, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Delores Ann and Tommy Carbaugh of Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law Terry and Joan Gillespie; Carl and Kathy Gillespie all of Florida; Rick and Delores Gillespie; Teddy and Dee Dee Gillespie; Randy Gillespie all of West Virginia; Ronnie Gillespie of South Carolina; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, December 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Bishops Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
