Bobby Lee
Taylor
April 23, 1938 – December 2, 2023
In Loving Memory of Bobby Taylor
Bobby Lee Taylor, age 85, of Galax, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1938, in Grayson County, Virginia. Bobby was a loving husband to Billie Ruth Taylor and a devoted father to his children: Charles Delp and wife Lisa, Sonia Truitt and husband Tony, and John Taylor and wife Julia. Bobby's eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was a strong support and loving big brother to his three surviving sisters: Linda Taylor, Patty Martin, and Bonnie Wright. Bobby was preceded in death by his father, James Taylor, his mother, Beulah Taylor, and brothers, Jerry Taylor, and Larry Taylor.
Bobby was a proud veteran of the Korean War, having served his country as a member of the United States Army. After his military service, he pursued a career in the construction industry. His work displayed exceptional craftsmanship. His meticulous attention to detail and expertise left an indelible mark on countless homes throughout Galax, earning him the admiration and respect of the community. Bobby's dedication to his community extended beyond his profession. He was actively involved in various civic organizations, including the Masons, UCT, Shriners, and VFW.
Bobby found solace and strength in his faith and was a member of Baywood Wesleyan Church. His faith was an important part of his life and provided him with comfort and guidance.
As a man of adventure, Bobby loved to travel and experience new places. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies for him but shared experiences with friends and family, creating lasting memories that he could recount perfectly years later. He was also an avid reader, with an insatiable curiosity that drew him to a wide range of literature, from his grandchildren's required summer readings to the biographies of his favorite historical figures. His love for learning was a testament to his intellectual curiosity and his desire to continually expand his knowledge.
No description of Bobby would be complete without mentioning his love for a particular simple pleasure – a nightly bowl of ice cream. We're comforted to know that he's sharing a scoop (or three) of MooseTracks with the family he's reuniting with on golden streets in Heaven.
Bobby's warm persona touched the lives of all who knew him. With a twinkle in his eyes and a smile that could fill any room, he had a remarkable ability to make those around him feel valued and loved. His kindness and generosity were unparalleled, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of those fortunate enough to cross his path. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived and a spirit that will be cherished eternally.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Bobby's life will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Baywood Wesleyan Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m., with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Southwest Virginia Military Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Bobby's memory to the Grayson County VFW (PO Box 608, Independence, Virginia 24348), paying homage to his unwavering commitment to his fellow veterans.
The Vaughan Guynn Funeral Home in Galax, Virginia, has been entrusted with arrangements, offering compassionate support to the family during this difficult time.
