Bobby Lee Jones, Sr. , 82, of Galax, Virginia departed this earth on February 18, 2016 at the Grayson Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was the son of late Bernie and Ochel Jones of Bradshaw, West Virginia, a graduate of Iaeger High School and attended Marshall University. He was a former employee as a conductor for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad. A member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans as Bobby was a disabled Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict in the Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Anise Jean Jones, a daughter April Strickland, Sparta, North Carolina; a son Bobby Lee Jones, II of the home; two grandchildren Parker and Bailey Strickland, Sparta, North Carolina; a sister Mary Lou Maynard and husband Paul of Jolo, West Virginia; brother Eugene Jones of Princeton, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by brothers Jimmy, Kyle, Oral, Paul, Jinks and Sidney Jones. Charlie Bagwell of Galax, Virginia was a very dear friend to Bobby over many years.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Barry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
Military rites will be conducted by Grayson VFW Post 7726.
