Bobby Dwayne Byrd

Bobby Dwayne Byrd age 79 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026 at his home.

Bobby was born in Carroll County, Virginia on November 17, 1946 to Oscar R. and Gladys Ellen Farmer Byrd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Pauline Patton; brother and sister-in-law Raymond Byrd Sr. and Linda; father-in-law and mother- in-law Dewey and Elizabeth Anders; sister-in-law Opal Vaughan and brother-in-law Donald Anders.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Anders Byrd of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Patrick Cockram of Salem, Virginia; two grandchildren Hartley Cockram and Addison Cockram; brothers-in-law L.C. Patton, Jr. and Joe N. Vaughan; nieces and nephews Sharon Massie (Sammy); Teresa Stinson (Terrell); Raymond Byrd (Michelle); Anthea Byrd; Dwayne Vaughan (Valarie); Lisa Hutchens (James); Gina Robinson; and Angie Blevins (Monte).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew Adams officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 PM until time for the service at the Trinity Baptist Church.
