Bobby Lee Baumgardner, age 87, passed away at his home in Fries on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. He was born in Galax, Virginia to the late Auddie Lee and Clover Eugnia Ballard Baumgardner.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Laura Jane Baumgardner, son Virgil James Dixon and five brothers and sisters.

Mr. Baumgardner proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by daughter Jennifer Baumgardner of the home; step daughter Janet Felts of Galax, Virginia; daughter-in-law Cathy Dixon of Fries; two sisters Dora Lee Coleman and Lois Ann Shupe both of Galax; brother Billy Baumgardner of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; two grandchildren Brandi Leigh Frazier, Byron Roger Shinault, four step grandchildren Melinda Ann Burris,, Sarah Michelle Tucker, William Cody Archer, and Thomas Brent Archer.  Nine Great Grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside service and burial will be held Friday, December 18, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Old Quaker Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to assist with the expenses for the service.
