Obituary

Bo Baber of Woodlawn, VA passed from this world to the next on May 12, 2023 at the age of 51.  He lived a successful life filled with lots of love, and tons of laughter.  He was warm and kind, friendly and very funny.

His personal passions included reading and collecting comic books, listening to (and sometimes singing) every type of music, watching football, and being with his kids.  His love of comic books had him starting work at a local comic shop at age 13 where he was paid in merchandise.  Since then he has perused every comic book store in every city or state he has ever visited or passed through.

Being a savant of musical knowledge had him winning radio show contests frequently, resulting in a large collection of pop culture memorabilia and t-shirts plus 2 trips to Vegas.  His youthful goal of living in the Florida Keys was thwarted by real life, but he kept the dream alive.  He was a Parrothead, attending hundreds of Jimmy Buffett concerts, befriending the band members, and founding the Fingers Taylor fan club.

Other accomplishments include: raising two successful sons to ages 23 and 20, saving a toddler from drowning, teasing people who weren't sure if he was joking or not, and surviving his wife's cooking.  He was also the first in his family to make it past the partying stage at college and get his bachelor's  degree.

His dimpled smile, sarcastic humor, and dark curly hair made the ladies swoon but he gave his giant heart to his college sweetheart, Mary, three decades ago.  He then shared that love with the 2 best things to ever happen to him, his sons, RJ and Mason.

He was kind and generous with his time, always ready to lend a hand. He frequently escorted little old ladies across the street including his mother-in-law, Betty Jo Mabe.  He spent football Sundays with his father-in-law, Bruce Mabe watching his lifelong favorite team, The Washington Redskins.  While growing up, he attended the games in person with his family.  Bo's father, Bob Baber, passed away when he was a child. He was raised by loving parents, mother Rachelle Feth and step-father Gary Feth, in Mt. Vernon, VA.

Bo was taken decades too soon, however he no doubt laughed uproariously upon his arrival at the Pearly Gates when he realized he had reunited with his Mom first, forever solidifying his status as her #1 favorite child, beating out his siblings, Jon Baber and Alicia Ryder.

He is part of a large extended family full of aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, neighbors, and close family friends. This also includes bonus sisters, Jackie Medaris(Toby) and Brigid Gordon(Ian).  He is brother-in-law to Greg Mabe and a fun uncle to several nieces and nephews, Caleb and Lucas Ryder, Kaelynn and Riley Mabe, Truett, Steele, and Ace Gordon.

Bo has so many friends and family that love him dearly, that we've decided to have 2 memorial services.  The first will take place at Mt. Olivet Community Methodist Church, 6926 Carrollton Pike, Galax, VA on Friday, June 9 at Noon.  The second will take place at New Hope Church, 8905 Ox Road, Lorton, VA 22079 on Saturday, June 17 at 11:00am.  Dress is casual at both because Bo would want you to be comfortable. The short services will be followed by noshing and visitation with the family.
