Billy Ray Sexton age 80 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Billy was born in Ivanhoe, Virginia on June 18, 1944 to Cecil Glenn and Stella Marie Linville Sexton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Sexton and a niece Sheila Williams.

He proudly served his country in the US Army and retired as Sergeant First Class on June 18, 2004.

He is survived by his wife Oma Lee Hudson Sexton of Galax, Virginia; daughter Lu-Oma Hawks of Hickory, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law William and Lorrie Sexton of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law Patsy and Bennil Easter of Cana, Virginia; Nancy Carol and Benny Moody of Waynesville, North Carolina; grandchildren Katie and Brittany Newberry; William Keith Sexton; one great-grandchild Lexi Ann Newberry; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Bishop's Chapel Church Cemetery with Military Rites by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
