Billie Joseph Smith age 79 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at his home with his family by his side.
Mr. Smith was born in Galax, Virginia on October 30, 1935 to Arthur Wackam and Minnie Lee Bowers Smith.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jo Smith of Galax, Virginia; children Lee Smith and Maurice Woodie of Laurel Springs, North Carolina; Debbie and Wayne H. Sexton; Chase Smith all of Galax, Virginia; Tabitha Isom of Anderson, West Virginia; Rhyan Lee Isom of Stanton, Virginia; sister Dorothy Sharp of Galax, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Harold "Tiny" and Dorothy Smith of Hillsville, Virginia; Carroll "Bubby' and Janet Smith of Woodlawn, Virginia; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Monta Vista Cemetery with the Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday starting at 2:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
