Joe Bill Edwards known as Bill Edwards age 94 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Edwards was born in Grayson County, Virginia on December 23,1920 to John D. and Ruth Higgins Edwards. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Laddie Lee Jones Edwards.

He proudly served our country in the US Army.

He is survived by his son Danny Edwards; sister and brother-in-law Eva and Dan Joines all of Galax, Virginia; nieces and their husbands Teresa and Byron Terry; Debbie and Gary Baumgardner; Dana and Jim Gregg; close family friends Carol and John Edwards.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM in the Longview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Houston and the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 PM until time for the funeral service at the Longview United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Longview United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Twin County Regional Home Health and nurse Susan Andrews, aide Marcy Testerman and Twin County Hospice and Pat Davis, a very special family friend and caregiver.

A meal will be provided at the Longview United Methodist Church after the interment and all are welcome to attend.
