Betty Jo Vaughan, age 73, of Fries, VA died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 at the Wake Forest Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC.

Ms. Vaughan was born April 10, 1938 in Grayson County, VA to Elmer and Lizzie Funk Littreal.

She is survived by one son, Bryan Vaughan, Fries, VA; daughters & son's-in law, Mary Elizabeth and Scott Paisley, Troutdale, VA; Jody & Jeff Griffin, Hillsville, VA; grandchildren & spouses, Kacey & Charlie Dalton, Kira & Steven Bowers, Heather Paisley, Kimberly Paisley, Evan Griffin, Ethan Griffin; great-grandchildren, Logan Vaughan, Lucas Bowers, Carlie Dalton; brother & sister-in-law, J.D. & Pauline Littreal, Fries, VA; sister & brother-in-law, Mary Eva & Bill Williams, Axton, VA. Several nieces & nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, 11:00 AM, at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The Rev. John Williams will be the officiating minister. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax, VA. Flowers will be appreciated, however, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Hope Cemetery Fund.
