Betty Jo Quillen Martin age 83 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, March 25,2008 at her home. Mrs. Martin was born n Wise County, Va. on April 25, 1924 to C.E. & Myrtie Vanover Quillen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Marie Hand, Rae Holder, Elleta Eichelberger and Ann Todd; brothers C.E. "Eddie" Quillen, William "Bill" Quillen and Jack Quillen. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Rayburn W. Martin; children and their spouses Ronald & Raiza Martin of Jasper, Ga.; James R. Martin and special friend Joan Gillespie of Galax, Va.; Jean Martin & Frank Hurt of Roanoke, Va.; Sharon Martin & Larry Blevins of Herndon, Va.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Sarah "Tip" Quillen and Phyllis Quillen and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Dr. Winford Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Betty and her husband Rayburn opened Martin's Cleaners in Galax, Va. in 1965; she was a member of the First Baptist Church from 1940 until her death and she also volunteered ten years at the Mt. Rogers Powerhouse.
