Betty Carolyn Hancock age 75 of Fries, Va. passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007 in Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Hancock was born in Grayson County, Va. on February 22, 1932 to the late William & Vinnie Bourne Akers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Elmer David Hancock. She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law David & Janice Hancock; Roy Hancock; Virgil Hancock all of Galax, Va.; Billy & Jackie Hancock of Lexington, N.C.; sister Edna Leath of Lexington, N.C.; brothers & sister-in-law Hobert & Betty Akers of Fries, Va.; Frank Akers of Lexington, N.C.; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Titus Anderson and Terry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Fries Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home from 8:30 am until service time Wednesday.
