Betty Jane Shupe Byrd age 83 of Fort Washington, Maryland and formerly of Fries, Virginia passed away Friday December 25, 2020 at her home.

Mrs. Byrd was born in Fries, Virginia on February 19, 1937 to Harley June and Rosa Lee Arnold Shupe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Junior Byrd; son Roger Byrd; and sisters Margaret Vaughan and Wanda Stamper.

She is survived by a daughter Patricia Byrd of Fort Washington, Maryland; son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Deloris Byrd of Galax Virginia; brother Donald Shupe of Fries, Virginia; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend Roger "Alex" Sauceda.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 2;00 PM in the Atkins Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev Bill Shupe officiating. There will be no visitation.
