Bettie Jean Sizemore Lineberry

Bettie Lineberry, 84, of Galax, VA, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026. She was born in Carroll County, Virginia, on April 24, 1942, to the late Sherman and Frances Spurlin Sizemore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Frank and James Thomas Sizemore, and four sisters: Daisy Gladys Sizemore, Eunice Lee Irene Sizemore, Mary Elizabeth Sizemore, and Margie Pauline Reed. 

Bettie became what she called a “hair magician” right after high school. She worked at the 5-star Modernette Stylon Salon. Later, she ran her own shop in downtown Galax for many years. Bettie was a mother to all she met. She cared deeply for those close to her. She valued people more than things and always wanted to help however she could. Bettie’s passion was being outside and working in the yard more than anything. She could grow any flower and had so many around the house. She was strong, independent, fierce, and full of zest! Bettie never believed in sitting down and not working. 

Her memories are left to be cherished by her husband of more than 50 years, Robert (Bob) Lineberry; daughter and son-in-law, Delesha and JD Koger Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Joyce Rector; grandchildren, Taylor Koger, Cory and Chey Rector, Morgen and Laura Newell; sister, Ada Loree Patton; many special nieces and nephews; and a special lifelong friend, Delores Davis.

 A casual celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Christ Chapel, Galax, VA. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a remembrance and celebration of life at 11:30 AM.
