Bessie G. Haga Fortner, 75, of Fries, passed away Monday November 19, 2007 in the Golden Living Center-Blue Ridge in Galax, VA. She was born March 8, 1932 in Grayson County to Clinton & Ethel Tiny Curley Haga. In additional to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Othar Steven Fortner. She is survived by a daughter & son-in-law: Pam & Carl Surratt of Galax, two sons & daughters-in-law: Rocky & Lillie Fortner of Radford, VA and Frankie & Penny Fortner of Fries. Two Grandsons Ryan Scott Adkins and Evan Tyler Adkins, two step grand sons: William Hall and David Grimm also survive along with a sister & brother-in-law: Betty & C. V. Duff of Lenoir City, Tennessee; two brothers-in-law and their wives: Gilbert & Betty Fortner and Wesley and Marie Fortner all of Galax.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Tuesday November 20, 2007. The funeral service will be held Wednesday November 21, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Revs. Bill Linkous and Ben Haga officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery beyond Fries.
