Beryl Jean Leonard, age 83, of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday June 20, 2025 in Twin County Regional Hospital.

Beryl was born on July 11, 1941 in Fries, Virginia to the late Lester and Ocie Barrett. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dean M. Leonard; sister Phyllis Sapp; and brothers-in-law Roy Hyatt and Wayne Sapp.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Mark Higgins of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughter-in-law Jerry and Anna Leonard of Galax, Virginia, John Leonard of Fries, Virginia, Robert and Laura Leonard of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Mary "Inky" Hyatt of Woodlawn, Virginia, Debbie and Edwin Tompkins of Galax, Virginia; brothers-in-law and spouses Barnett and Mae Leonard of Galax, Virginia, Garnett and Brenda Leonard of Galax, Virginia; a special aunt Jetta Taylor; six grandchildren Heather Evans (Brandon), Tilden Leonard, John Leonard Jr., Bryant Leonard, Mylinda Howard (Josh), Ashley Brannock (Jamie); four step grandchildren John Bedwell (Jessie), Mark Bedwell (Holly), Jonah Sharp, Katie Sharp; six great grandchildren Chloey Bobbitt, Christian Evans, Lily Brannock, Riley Brannock, Riley Howard, Harper Howard; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday June 24, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Billy Burnette officiating. Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
