Bert Theo Hines age 81 of Galax, Va. passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Mr. Hines was born in Grayson County, Va. on February 18, 1927 to Edgar & Marquedean Funk Hines. He is survived by his daughters Maxine Boggs of Hillsville, Va.; Cheryl Bowman of Greensboro, N.C.; Susan Chappell of Centreville, Va.; Kathy Alley of Independence, Va.; Stacey Hines of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters Jean Turman; Arlene Funk; Vaine Vaughan; Linda Maness; brothers E.O. "Shorty" Hines and Harold Dean Hines; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special family members Alan & Joan Hines; several nieces & nephews. Bert was a WW II Veteran, an active member of the Moose Lodge, Galax Elks Lodge and the "Good Ole Boys" Breakfast Club at Aunt Bea's in Galax, Va.. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 30, 2008 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Gloria Lancaster Rhudy officiating. Elks Rites will be conducted by Galax Elks Lodge # 2212. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Twin County Hospice. Bert was well loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
