Beatrice Akers age 84 of Galax, Va. passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at her home.
Mrs. Akers was born in Fries, Va. on June 13, 1925 to Roy & Lillie Ann Bond Walls. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Grover Akers.
She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law Terry & Rachel Davis of Fancy Gap, Va.; sisters Evelyn Carter of Bassett, Va.; Betty Alley of Galax, Va.; brother Bobby Haga of Galax, Va; step-grandchildren Josh Ball; Katrina Knapp; Candy Goad; step-great-grandchildren Leah Price; Cassidy Goad; Christian Goad; Camden Ball; several nieces & nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 7:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Jay Fields & Rev. Woynal Smythers officiating. Burial will be held Friday, August 27, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Fries Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from five until seven at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
