Basil Thomas Rector age 91 of Galax, Va. passed away Wednesday, June 27,2007 at his residence. Mr. Rector was born on April 16,1916 in Alleghany County, N.C. to Lennie Curtis and Fannie Ann Andrews Rector. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Beatrice Rose & Wilma Jones; five brothers Orien Rector; Homer Rector; Raymond Rector; Durward Rector and Gerald Rector. He is survived by his wife Katy Lee Moxley Rector of Galax, Va.; daughters & sons-in-law Judy & Roger Combs of Radford, Va.; Louellen & Jim Sharp of Floyd, Va.; Jackie & Charles Kirk of Raleigh, N.C.; Rhonda & Jeff James of Galax, Va.; sons & daughter-in-law Thomas Rector of Belleville, Illinois; Lennie (Buddy) & Linda Rector of Mt. Pleasant, N.C.; James Rector of Galax, Va.; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces & nephews; sister-in-law Bessie Rector of Sparta, N.C.; brother-in-law Odell Moxley of Independence, Va.;. The family will receive friends Friday night from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Bob Adams and Pastor Max Combs officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites by Hillsville VFW Post 1115.
