Barry Lee Gordon, age 76, of Salem passed away Friday, August 22, 2025, at Waddell Nursing Home in Galax, Virginia.

Barry was born in Pearisburg, Va. on August 9, 1949, to the late Clyde and Lorraine Gordon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Taney Gordon, and his half-brother Rodney Blankenship.

He graduated from Giles High School in 1967. He was drafted into the Army in 1969. He served in Vietnam in the 18th MP Brigade, Company B, 716th MP Battalion from January to November of 1970. He pulled stateside duty at Fort Gordon, Georgia until he was released in August 1971.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Amy and Kelly Montgomery of Galax, Va.; son and daughter-in-law David and Amber Gordon of Roanoke, Va.; sister and brother-in-law Pam and Allen Asbury of Abbs Valley, Va.; half-sister Brenda Haase of Rainelle, WV;  stepsons and spouse Kris and Paige Ward; Ryan Ward all of Salem, Va.; step-daughter and spouse Carrie and Justin Cox of Salem, Va.; two grandchildren Emily and Derek Gordon; five step grandchildren Kayley and Karlie Montgomery; Tristan and Shannon Cox and Gabe Ward as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no visitation or service, however; a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
