Artie Helen Fortner Stamper age 84 of Fries, Virginia passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 in the Waddell Nursing Home.
Mrs. Stamper was born in Carroll County, Virginia on December 11, 1929 to James Raymond and Alpha Reynolds Fortner. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Herschel Stamper and a brother William Glenn Fortner.
She is survived a daughter and son-in-law Pamela Stamper Cunningham and Joe of Katy, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Rhonda "Jackie" Stamper of Galax, Virginia; Jeff and Shannon Stamper of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren and spouses David Cunningham, Brooke Koss and Jim, Scott Cunningham, Courtney Cunningham, Michael Stamper and Delena, Rhonda Bartley and Brad, Andrew Stamper and Alexander Stamper, five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
