Obituary

Arthur T. "Buck" Burcham age 85 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. Burcham was born on June 5, 1929 to Robert and Rausey Burcham.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Laura Mae Leonard and Faye Diamond and a brother Arnold Burcham.

He proudly served in the Army during the Korean war and was held in a POW Camp for almost 3 years.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years Shirley Cox Burcham; daughter and son-in-law Lydia and C. Hal Sutphin all of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Norma and Jack Easter of Midlothian, Virginia; Diana Delp of Powhatan, Virginia; Alma Vaughan of Galax, Virginia; brothers and sister-in-law Archie and Iva Burcham of Galax, Virginia; Buford Burcham of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; granddaughter Leisa Sutphin; step-grandsons and spouses Cory and Anna Sutphin of Galax, Virginia; Mitchell and Kristin Sutphin of Check, Virginia; three step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and spouses Sylvia and Pete Killon; Jo Ann and Jim Jennings all of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 2:00PM in the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brandon Berg officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vale Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church, 3350 Meadow Creek Road, Galax, Virginia 24333 or to the charity of choice.
