Arthur Darrell Montgomery age 66 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at his home.

Darrell was born in Galax, Virginia on April 8, 1949 to Edward Dean and Wilma Patton Montgomery.

In addition to his mother Wilma P. Showalter of Galax, Virginia he is survived by his daughter Tonya Montgomery of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Heather Montgomery of Woodlawn, Virginia; step-son and wife Randy and Tammy Haga of Falkville, Alabama; four grandchildren Rachel Montgomery, Mason Montgomery, Molly Montgomery, Sarah Darnell; one step-granddaughter Maryann Haga; one great-grandson Cayden Meadd; sisters and brothers-in-law Myra and Mike Kirby; Cheryl and Gary Davis; Alice Montgomery and special friend Johnny Crater all of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Eddie and Judy Montgomery of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 23 2015 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Bartlett; Sam Burnette and Pastor Sam Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Galyean Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from five until eight at the First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Baywood Rescue Squad or to the Baywood Ruritan Club.
