Arthur Eugene (Red) Martin age 88 of Fries, Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mr. Martin was born in Grayson County, Virginia on October 9, 1930 to Russell and Estelle Burnett Martin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Katherine Bryant Martin and two brothers Jerry Martin and Jimmy Martin.

He proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law Traci Martin Pierce and Earl. D., Jr.; Heather Martin Shaffner all of Fries, Virginia; grandchildren Ivory Pierce; Autumn Pierce and Patrick Waylon; Kristin Shaffner and Clint Vanover; Logan Shaffner; special great-grandchild Branch Dixon; sisters and brother-in-law Clara Nadine Reedy of Radford, Virginia; Joan Martin and Jim Higgins of Galax, Virginia; sister-in-law Peggy Richardson of Salem, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; special friends Ernie, Joyce and Lilly.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Lee Thomas and the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Fries Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to either the Mt.
