Arthur Eugene "Gene" Choate, age 86, Galax, VA died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 in the Grayson Nursing Home, Independence, VA.
Mr. Choate was born March 10, 1929 in Sparta, NC to John & Annie Rector Choate. His parents preceded him in death and, also, a son, Michael Choate.
He is survived by his wife Maxine Choate, Galax, VA; daughters & sons-in-law, Jennifer & Kent Ross, Fancy Gap, VA; Lori & Dan Ruda, Branson, Missouri; son & daughter-in-law, Dennis & Maggie Choate, Bluefield, West Virginia; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015 at 1:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Felts Cemetery, Galax, VA. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time for the funeral service on Thursday at the funeral home. Officiating minister will be the Rev. Garry Adams.
