Arnold James Phillips age 91 of Fries, Virginia passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Phillips was born in Grayson County, Virginia on June 22, 1925 to Harley and Ruth Jackson Phillips. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Hutchinson Phillips and two brothers Carl Phillips and Warren Phillips.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Randy and Nancy Phillips; David Phillips all of Fries, Virginia; Kevin and Rita Phillips of Wytheville, Virginia; grandchildren Brandon Phillips; Cade Phillips and Camden Phillips; step-grandchild Matthew Sheaves; sisters Alma Ruth Vaught; Mary Dotson both of Galax, Virginia; Betty Gallimore of Wytheville, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Fries Baptist Church with the Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from11:30 AM until time for the funeral service at the Fries Baptist Church.
