Annie Haliene Cockerham Cole, 84, of Galax passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Mrs. Cole was born April 2, 1930 in Grayson County to the late Lonnie and Elizabeth Russell Cockerham. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Cole, daughter Linda Leath, and son Scott William Cole.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy Lee Black of Fries, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Robert (Bobby) and Nora Cole, Galax Virginia; Rev. Mitchell and Janet Cole also of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law Frances and Tommy King; Jeanie and J. D. Brewer all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; brother James Cockerham of Winston-Salem, North Caorlina; daughter-in-law: Bonnie Cole of Galax, Virginia; son-in-law Randy Leath of Galax., Virginia; sister-in-law Geneva Shaw of Galax. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 20 Religion Road, Galax, VA at 1:00 PM with Rev. Ernie Smith and Rev. Mitchell Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Independence, Virginia. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. here will be no visitation at the funeral home.
