Anna Mae Swinney age 89 of Fries, Virginia passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 in the Galax Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Swinney was born in Grayson County, Virginia on April 9, 1929 to Claude and Rhetta Grimes Hodge. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Swinney and grandson Steven Brewer.

She is survived by her daughter Joyce Akers of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughter-in-law Junior Swinney; Darrell Swinney; Timmy and Cindy Swinney; sister-in-law Hazel Hodge all of Fries, Virginia; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends Bo and Ann Stuart; Charles and Carolyn Pierce.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church (Fries, Virginia) with the Rev. Eddie Bailey and Leroy Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
