Anna Rose Murphy Smith age 70 of Galax, Va. passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in Riverside Tappahanock Hospital in Tappahanock, Va.. Mrs. Smith was born on November 5,1937 in Alleghany County, N.C. to John Handy & Bessie Alma Murphy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lee Smith. She is survived by a son Terry Keith Murphy of Tappahanock, Va.; daughter & son-in-law Sandra Ann & Mack B. Dowell, Jr. of North East, Maryland; sister Clara Mae "Polly" Moxley of Glade Creek, N.C.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 2:00pm in the Old Saddle Mountain Union Baptist Church with Elder Russ Cox and Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in Saddle Mountain Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the family.
