Anita "Sue" Rhudy Backus, age 81, of Fries, Virginia passed away Friday August 9, 2019 at her home. Sue was born in Grayson County on December 22, 1937 to the late Otey and Anice Larue Rhudy.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Eileen Stewart, Sybil Johnson, Kathleen Smith, Ann Comeaux, Delton Rhudy, and Otey Lee Rhudy.

She is survived by her husband Nathan "Joe" Backus of Fries; sons and daughters-in-law Karl and Josie Backus of Panama City, Florida, Nathan Backus Jr of Lugoff, South Carolina, and Antony and Lana Backus of St. Claire Shores, Michigan; grandchildren Ursula Backus, Caroline and John Trotter, both of Panama City, Florida, and Neal Backus of St. Claire Shores, Michigan. Also surviving are special niece and nephew Cynthia Bailey and Jack Elliot; several nieces and nephews, and several special friends.

The graveside service will be held Wednesday August 14 at 11:00 AM at Cold Springs Cemetery with Brother Jeff Stowers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday August 13 at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
