Anise Jean Kennedy Jones age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Gladys Kennedy of Jolo, West Virginia. In addition of her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Bobby Lee Jones, III; and brothers Joseph Kennedy and Clark Kennedy.

Anise Jean was a graduate of Iaeger High School of Iaeger, West Virginia. She attended Concord College in Athens, West Virginia. She taught school in Buchanan County, Virginia for several years. After moving to Grayson County, Virginia, she was a substitute teacher for several years.

Anise Jean is survived by her children Bobby Lee Jones, II of Galax, Virginia; April Ochel Jones Strickland of Sparta, North Carolina; two grandchildren Bailey Nichole Strickland of Sparta, North Carolina and Parker Anderson Strickland and fiancée Kayla Edwards of Ennice North Carolina; great-grandchildren Dalton Carpenter, Noah Strickland, Waylon Strickland, Haiden Edwards and Hunter Edwards. Also to cherish her memory are her sister Norine Kennedy Harmon of Ormond Beach, Florida and her brother Paul Kennedy and wife Ruby of Monticello, Florida; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Anise Jean was a devoted wife and mother. She made each day a special occasion for her children; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 noon until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
