Alvin Fred Woods age 75 of Woodlawn, Va. passed away Thursday, September 7, 2006 in North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was born in Carroll County, Va. on May 1, 1931 to the late Fred and Dorthus Shumate Woods. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Margie (Steve) Shupe. He served as a U.S. Army Ranger during the Korean War. He was employed for 38 years with Burlington Industries. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Blanche Lineberry Woods of the home, daughter & son-in-law, Cathy & Alan Stephenson of Mebane, N.C.; son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Patsy Woods of Elon, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law: Georgie (Fred) Parnell; Annie (Ralph) Ayers; Hellen (Roosevelt) Chappell;and a brother, Friel Woods; two grandchildren, Lindsay Stephenson and Trevor Stephenson, a step-granddaughter, Amy Lineberry and two step-great-grandchildren, Grayson Lineberry and Jonah Byers; Special friends, Elwood & Anges Lineberry; and Jimmy Simone. A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 10, 2006 at 2:00 PM in the Joe Bryant Cemetery with Sammy Burnette officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from five until eight pm at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
