Alverta Mae Jones age 92 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Jones was born in Ennice, North Carolina on July 16, 1924 to Emmett and Delphie Cockerham Roberts.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Pat Simone; Brenda Rippey and fiance' Russell Paisley all of Galax, Virginia; Vickie and Freddie Combs of Fries, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Roger and Vickie Jones of Galax, Virginia; Michael and Trish Jones of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; sister Nellie Woods of Kernersville, North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Angie Lineberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Saddle Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
