Almeda Crowder Vaughan, 92, of Fries, Virginia passed away December 11, 2019 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center, Galax, Virginia. Mrs. Vaughan was born February 17, 1927 in West Virginia to the late Orville Alexander Crowder and Berta Jane Hicks Crowder. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arlie Gene Vaughan; three sisters Minnie Myrtle Crowder, Vera Frances Crowder and Arvetta Crowder Moss and three brothers Otis Dunkley Crowder, James Gilmer Crowder and Delmer Douglas Crowder.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in law Mary and Tommy South of Virginia Beach, Virginia and son Billy Vaughan of Fries; four grandchildren Anthony South, Cynthia Flesher, Brian Vaughan and Derek Vaughan; sisters-in-law Maggie Hamm and Mamie Vaughan; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Fries Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Tony Vaughan and Rev. Barbara Gravely officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church.
